So, finally after a while now … well I started working on nyx a year ago and trough that time I rewrote the code about 3 or 4 times to get the best possible results.
In general NyxFramework is an ActionScript 3 framework for building XML managed websites. What is the difference between Nyx and other frameworks? It’s focused on manipulating your content from XML files, where other frameworks allow you generally to define what files should be loaded and placed, Nyx has a built in functionality to transform display objects, render TextFields, register Fonts and more thanks to the Plugin API.
Currently Nyx is in beta version 0.51 named “Alkio” (finnish for “embryo”), and not all additional features are complete (like some plugins) but don’t worry, all of the core functions are working.
Nyx is still in tests so there may be some problems with a few objects, there will be a bug tracker availible later this week where you will be able to submit any bugs you found, which I promise to correct as fast as possible! (Have in mind that we all have work, private life ect.)
NyxFramework is free to use, all you have to do is respect the licenses of libraries that are used in Nyx. Read more about licensing.
The documentation is not finished yet, I’ll try to update it systematically with more code examples and infos. Before the alpha release there also will be a full ASDocs documentation prepared.
I am using NyxFramework (prevovious closed beta release) in my works for about a 1,5 year and it already has been deployed with more than 15 websites and facebook applications. The delay in releasing it was that I wanted to rebuild it to maximize the functionality and lower the filesize as much as possible – thats where the plugins camed and NyxController. So whats next? Well you should go to the QuickStart or Downloads section and begin playing with Nyx. As for me I’m going to prepare some tutorials, guides and fill up the reference with the things it lacks.
